Skip was the only child of Cathy Wells. He graduated Sprayberry High School in 2012 where he was a member of the Band of Gold for four years as well as the NJROTC program. After high school he went on to Georgia Southern to pursue his love of history.
While he was at Georgia Southern he began feeling there was something bigger and better for him. He came home and joined the Marine Corps.
Skip became an Artilleryman stationed at Chattanooga Naval Marine Reserve Center. The fact that he was an artilleryman with the Marine Corps played well into his love of history as in his spare time and weekends off he would play the part of a civil war cannoneer at Kennesaw National Battlefield Park.
